Goalie
Many goaltending camps are based on the cookie cutter model. Every goalie doing the same thing at the same time. At Briere's Goalie School, we try to give each of our students as much one on one time as possible. Each goalie has different attributes that make them who they are. So why try to teach all of them the same way.
Arguably, the three best goalies in the NHL today are Marty Brodeur, Tim Thomas and Marc Andre Fleury. Each has a distinctive style that sets them apart from the other. That is why we teach our students to use their strengths to get the job done which is . . . stop the puck. Our aim is to ensure that each goaltender who attends our camp has an enjoyable experience and receives quality, individual instruction in all aspects of goaltending. Students are instructed on skating techniques, butterfly, save selections, positioning, puck handling and much more during our camps. The drills are designed based on the individual assessment performed at the beginning of the camp.
On Ice: There will be 3 hours per day of on-ice training. Wherever possible, there will be at least a 3:1 ratio of instructors to goalies to make sure that each goalie receives as much individual attention as possible.
Off Ice: There will be 5 hours of dry land instruction. The goalies will be taught various stretches, plyometrics and a number of other goalie specific off-ice drills. There will be opportunity to ask questions and learn how to utilize off ice training to improve skills and ability on the ice.
Video: There will be 5 hours of video, where all students will watch goalie specific educational, instructional and motivational videos.
There are programs for Beginners, Intermediate & Advanced goalies of all ages.
Briere's Goaltending School aims to offer quality instruction to students at all levels, whether they are just starting out, or already at AAA/High School level, there will be something for everyone.
The three basic levels of instruction are as follows:
Level 1: Aimed at goalies who are just starting out up to those who have been playing for a couple of years. Goalies will be taught basic drills and given the skills required to help them progress to the next level. It will also help the goalie recognize the types of saves which are appropriate to each situation, with emphasis on the actual save.
Level 2: This level is for goalies who have been playing for a couple of years, who are preparing themselves to make the breakthrough to the top ranks. It will go into more depth and technical detail.
Level 3: This is aimed at top level goalies, for example AAA/Junior/High School, who are trying to perfect their position and technique. This level will deal with such aspects as pre and post save positioning in depth, and look at the position from many angles.

Testimonials
"We want to thank you for everything you and John did to make last week's camp a great success. Being a former sports camp director, I know the work and effort it takes to organize and coordinate such a camp. Zachary had a great time. Being a novice goalie and the fact that there aren't too many goalie coaches in Birmingham, Alabama, we thought it was important that he receive quality instruction. The camp exceeded our expectations and made Zachary's summer. He is telling everyone about his experience and he can't wait until next year!"

"My first year at the Goalie School I learned so much, and every year after that I improved my game immensly. I loved the atmosphere there and how I was on the ice with other guy goalies at a much higher level then myself, which really pushed me. Steve's knowledge of the position shows in every drill, and it makes you improve on areas that are specific for your style. I also really liked the off-ice and videos because it showed another side of the position that's usually ignored. It's a great camp."
