Steve Briere

NHL Goalie Coach, Steve Briere
Steve’s passion for goaltending began at the age of eight. Born in Montreal and raised in Winnipeg, he left home at just 15 to pursue junior hockey, competing in both the BCHL and USHL.
He went on to earn a scholarship to the University of Alabama–Huntsville before turning professional with the Boston Bruins organization, playing in the AHL, ECHL, and in Europe. Following his playing career, Steve returned to UAH to complete his MBA and begin his coaching journey.
His coaching career has spanned every level of the game, from the NAHL and USHL to the NCAA, ultimately reaching the pinnacle of hockey with 12 seasons in the NHL.
Beyond the bench, Steve has become an internationally recognized speaker in the hockey world, presenting at events such as the NHL Draft, IIHF World Championships, and with Hockey Germany, Hockey Finland, as well as organizations in the UK and Sweden. He has also been featured on leading podcasts including The Coaches Site and Glass and Out.
Today, Steve brings this wealth of experience and knowledge to the next generation through Briere’s Goalie School, the BGS Mentorship Program, and the BGS Academy.
